PhonePe is a single app to pay bills, send money, buy gold, invest in tax-saving mutual funds, or shop online. It is a UPI-enabled initiative that enables users to make payments seamlessly across 1 L+ leading offline and online outlets in India.

Flipkart has launched a ‘Pay Later’ facility on PhonePe, enabling customers to shop up to Rs 5,000 on credit and clear their dues by the 10th of the month at no extra cost.

Payments

Payments made through phonepe pay later are fast, convenient, and secure. This feature allows users to buy small-ticket items on credit and clear their dues by the 10th of the month at no extra cost.

PhonePe, a UPI-based payments platform owned by Flipkart and Walmart, has recently launched a buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) facility. This facility will allow customers to shop up to INR 5,000 with a payment option due by the 10th of the month.

As a result of this move, PhonePe will be able to compete with a host of new-age lending players, including Paytm and One97 Communications Ltd’s MoneyGram. Industry executives told ET the deal could help PhonePe get a non-banking financial company (NBFC) license and expand its merchant lending business.

The e-wallet is reportedly close to acquiring buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) firm ZestMoney. According to sources, the acquisition is the most significant consolidation move in the BNPL space as the sector undergoes a global reset fuelled by interest rate hikes and a squeeze on consumer spending.

Recharges

PhonePe is a digital payment platform that helps customers recharge their mobile phones and pay for e-commerce orders, utility bills, travel, and more. It uses the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and is available in 11 Indian languages.

Using PhonePe to recharge your prepaid mobile number is easy and fast. All you need to do is tap the ‘Mobile Recharge’ option on the app home screen and enter the operator name and circle.

Recharges can be done through various modes like debit or credit cards, UPI, and PhonePe wallet. However, UPI is probably the easiest to use.

While using PhonePe to recharge your prepaid mobile, you must ensure that your bank account is valid. This will ensure that you get a successful recharge. In addition, you will also need to add the secret UPI PIN to complete your transaction.

Bills

Paying your bills through phonepe pay later is a convenient and seamless experience. The service allows users to pay any utility bill through the phonepe app and eliminates the need for a physical receipt, thus saving time.

The feature also lets customers make instant and recurring payments using multiple bank accounts at no extra charge. Moreover, a notification from PhonePe reminds users to make the payment.

The app’s ‘Reminders’ feature also alerts the user about the due dates of his or her utility bills. To make recurring bill payments even more accessible, customers can opt for the ‘AutoPay’ option. This will ensure that the due amount is automatically debited from their bank account every month, thus eliminating any late payment charges.

Insurance

In the first nine months since its foray into insurance, PhonePe has sold 500,000 insurance policies. The company says this makes it the fastest-growing insure-tech distributor in India.

To make health insurance more accessible, PhonePe has launched a plan called ‘Health @ 999’, which offers coverage at only Rs 999 per year. It covers medical expenses, including in-patient and out-patient hospitalization, daycare procedures, ambulance charges, and Ayush treatment.

The plan also comes with a lifetime renewability feature. It also covers critical illnesses like heart attack, kidney ailment, and cancer.

The company has witnessed strong participation from tier 2 and 3 cities, where 80 percent of premiums are paid on the PhonePe app. The number of insurance users is expected to increase in the coming years.
